Bristol Manor Farm have their own St. George in the shape of George Kellow, who has played his part in their push for the Pitching In Southern League Division One South play-offs since his arrival earlier in the season.
Kellow’s recent impressive performances were rewarded as he got his name on the scoresheet in Saturday’s commanding 3-0 triumph over Melksham Town, a result which leaves them fourth in the table, with just one defeat from their last nine games, and on course for a place in the play-offs with two games to go.
“This team has come together really well since I have been here,” said Kellow, who gave long service to Cribbs prior to his arrival at Manor Farm in October. “It feels like we’re heading in the right direction and it’s important that I am able to make a contribution.
“We’ve got heaps of attacking talent within the group and part of my job is to ensure that we get the ball to them so that they can do what they’re good at.
“I prefer to play in more of a central role and get on the ball as much as I can to help the team.
“The togetherness that we have here is going to be key for the battles that lie ahead for us. The fans are absolutely unbelievable and have been right behind me and the team since I have been here.
“The supporters might not realise what a vital role they have to play in pushing the players to run through brick walls for the club.
“We’ve set some high standards this season and we Know that we have to reach these in the remaining games.”
Two away games remain in the regular season as they head to Tavistock on Thursday evening before a trip to Frome Town on Saturday.
