There’s going to be plenty of drama across all four of our divisions on Saturday as the regular season comes to a close.
In the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, three play-off places are still up for grabs following Mickleover’s confirmed points deduction and there are four teams vying for them, including Stamford who have won five of their last six games.
They go into the weekend sat one place outside the play-off zone and head to face a Mickleover outfit who themselves are now looking to confirm their play-off spot having being hit with a 12-point deduction
“We go into the game with same the attitude that we’ve had all season,” captain, Rob Morgan, told us. “We just have to focus on ourselves and doing all we can to get the three points and not waste energy worrying about what’s going on around us.
“This League has proven to be extremely competitive this season, often coming down to fine margins where any mistakes can be costly and there are sure to be plenty of twists and turns during the course of Saturday.
“Coming up to a new League was always going to be a challenge, but as a team we have not only proven that we belong at this level but also that we can compete at the top end and push for promotion.
“It’s been an enjoyable season; we’ll give it one big final push at the weekend and see where it takes us.”
With Stamford at Mickleover, elsewhere, Leamington play host to an AFC Sudbury outfit who are battling to avoid the drop, Redditch United welcome Champions Needham Market and Stratford Town travel to a Royston Town side who sit just a couple of places below them.
