Attention now turns to the play-offs with some mouth-watering semi-final encounters taking place on Wednesday evening.
In the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, third-place Leamington host a Redditch United outfit that finished just one place and one point below them.
“It’s going to be a really tough game for us,” admitted Leamington defender, Rob Evans. “Like ourselves, they have been in the play-off positions for most of the season.
“These are the games you want to be involved in, though. I think that with our home advantage, the crowd can help us get through to Monday’s final.
“We’ll be approaching the game the same way as any other. Of course, it’s a massive one because our whole season hinges on this game and we’re fully aware of what is at stake here.
“It is important that we don’t over-complicate or over-think things. We just have to remain fully focused on the task at hand and getting the victory.”
Evans is full of praise for the Brakes’ faithful.
“I must say that the fans have been great to me and really helped me to settle in,” he added. “We’ve also got some top, top lads in that dressing room and you can see why the Gaffer has been here so long, there’s such a great bond between everyone and his man-management is first-class.
“I’ve not had the best of seasons personally, but winning the play-offs would be the perfect ending to it. I said when I first joined the club that I wanted to help get the club over the line in the play-offs.
“It’s been very competitive in the Premier Central this season. I have to admit that Needham Market took me by surprise with what they have achieved, but fair play to them and I wish them well in Step 2.
“There are some great young players coming through in this League who I have come up against this season and I am sure that quite a few of them will really push on up the levels in the years ahead. This League is a great breeding ground for emerging talent.”
The other Premier Central play-off semi-final sees AFC Telford United play host to Mickleover.
Please note that all play-off semi-finals across our four divisions are played over one leg only.
