LEAMINGTON | BRAKES DANCING

Josh Quaynor reflects on a hard-fought play-off semi-final

As expected, the play-off semi-finals across all four of our divisions proved to be hard-fought affairs.

None more so than at Leamington where their clash with Redditch United in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central play-off semi-final went to extra-time before being settled by a goal from Jack Edwards.

It means that the Brakes travel to face another side who were relegated from the Vanarama National League North at the end of last term, AFC Telford United, to see who will make an instant return.

“It was a typical play-off semi-final,” said Josh Quaynor. “There was not a lot to choose between two good sides, who were both determined not to make a mistake.

“We had to work hard, but I was pleased to get through the whole game and make a contribution towards the goal that we scored.

“Our fans really got behind us all evening and we’ll need more of the same on Monday. It’s going to be a similar type of game between two teams with everything to play for.

“If we can do the right things well and stay solid, we have a good chance. It will be nice to be involved in another final and hopefully I can play my part in helping us over the line to achieve what we deserve this season.”

The final will take place at the New Bucks Head on Monday afternoon.
