As expected, the play-off semi-finals across all four of our divisions proved to be hard-fought affairs.
That was certainly the case in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South where local rivals, Cribbs and Bristol Manor Farm locked horns with the visitors edging through by two goals to one.
“It was a tough, physical battle as it always is against Cribbs,” right-back, Mason Winter, told us. “But we knew it was going to be like that at their ground; the main thing was ensuring that we got the job done.
“I felt that we defended well; the manager showed his faith in me by putting me straight back into the team after suspension, so I was delighted to be able to play my part and help the team make it through.”
Winter, who is now in his fifth season with the club, also had plenty of praise for the Farmy Army.
“Our travelling fans are massive, they’re the best away fans in this League by a country mile. They make such a difference for us out there and we can’t thank them enough for their backing week in, week out.
“Going to Frome Town on Monday, we’re going to need them more than ever. We’ll be up against a quality team with a lot of experience within their ranks.
“I’m sure that it will be a cagey start, with neither team wanted to make a mistake, but it should turn into a free-flowing game.
“We fell short in the play-off final two years ago; we never really showed up that day, so we feel like we’ve got a shot at redemption.
“It’s a massive game for all involved and the opportunity to play in such a big game in front of hopefully a big crowd will be something us players will remember as a highlight of our careers.”
