The Pitching In Southern League Premier South play-off final takes place on Monday afternoon and sees AFC Totton host Salisbury.
The home side finished second with 81 points; they had the fewest defeats in the division, just seven from their 42 League games, and ended the campaign one place and two points ahead of their opponents.
“I don’t think that there will be any shy football played, that’s for sure,” said Tony Lee, who has been in a rich vein of scoring form since joining AFC Totton during the course of the season. “There will be a lot of quality on show between two teams who have been up there all season.
“Like the two semi-finals, I expect it to be a good advert for the Southern League and the Premier South.
“I just can’t wait to get out there. I had heart-break at the semi-final stage with Poole Town last season, so I want to end this one on a high and turn what has been an up-and-down campaign for myself personally into a real positive.”
Amongst the goals for Salisbury this term has been Noah Coppin.
“This is my first play-off final, so I can’t wait,” he told us. “It’s going to be a really tight game where one chance could make all the difference.
“Of course, it would be nice if I could get it and add to my tally, but as long as we get the result then I will be happy!
“Being the away team, we need our travelling fans to really get behind us as they have done all season and will us on like you wouldn’t believe! I am sure they will do just that.”
We congratulate both teams on getting this far – may the best team win.
