Poole Town manager, Steve Tully, is ahead of the game as he prepares for the new season.
The 43 year-old, who has a Southern League Premier promotion on his CV from his time at the helm of Truro City, was appointed into the Dolphins’ hot-seat at the end of March during a campaign which ended with them finishing just below halfway.
“If you would have said to me that before we returned to pre-season training, we would already have 12 players signed and ready to go for the season, I would have bitten your hand off,” he told us. “Preparation has gone very well so far; we’ve managed to identify and sign key players that will make us stronger and we’re not done yet.
“The club have backed and supported me tremendously over these past few weeks since last season ended and now we get ready to go into the next stage where pre-season gets underway.
“This is a very important time for players and staff as we look to build relationships and connections both on and off-the-field.
“It’s been a highly productive and very positive summer so far and hopefully this can continue. There’s a feel-good factor around the club and we are looking forward to pitting our wits in what will be a strong and exciting Premier South during the campaign ahead.
“I am looking forward to working on how we want to be tactically as well as on the cultures and behaviours that we need to display as a group.
“I want to build a team that can cope with any situations and that will ultimately find ways to win football games.
“Going into the season, our aim is promotion, but we know that we have to take things one game at a time, build momentum and then see where it takes us.
“Looking back over last season, for me it is clear that our home form has to improve; we have to make this a tough place to come and play.
“If we can do that, it will give us a foundation on which we can build from.”
