Russ Penn is looking forward to his first full season at the Halesowen Town helm.
Having finished eighth in their first season back at Pitching In Southern League Premier Central level last term, the Yeltz will be eager to launch an assault on the leading pack this time around.
“I am very excited for the season ahead,” Penn told us. “There’s a real buzz around the place at the moment; I am gradually putting my own stamp on things here and I just can’t wait to get going, to be fair.
“The summer preparations have all gone well, We’ve retained 75% of the squad, which I felt was vital, and to that we have been able to add five players of quality.
“Pre-season is always such an important time; it’s great to be able to put the work into the team but it’s also a time to enjoy getting to know each other and build those bonds that will become so vital for the battles that we will face.”
Penn was appointed as manager of his local club in February having gained higher level experience in the Kidderminster Harriers’ hot-seat.
“You need to be adaptable at these levels,” he added. “I like to organise my teams as much as possible and let them play with freedom.
“Our target is to be competitive. Finishing eighth in our first season back at this level was good and now our first focus is to better that in what will be another highly competitive competition this time around.”
