DIDCOT TOWN | REFRESHED AND READY

Manager, Jamie Heapy, is ready to face the challenge ahead

Finishing bottom of the Pitching In Southern League Premier South last season, 11 points adrift of their nearest rivals, was a tough for Didcot Town.

But manager, Jamie Heapy, has returned from the summer break refreshed and ready for the challenges ahead as his side prepare for life in Division One South.

“Last season was a long, hard season for us,” he admitted. “We needed that break and we’ve come back with plenty of determination and a renewed energy to get to where we want to be.

“The lads have applied themselves well so far; the young lads have integrated into the group well and I know exactly what I will get from the more experienced heads in the team.

“Players tend to look after themselves a lot better these days, so we were able to hit the ground running at the start of pre-season.

“Don’t get me wrong, we’re going into a tough league, but there’s no reason why we can’t be up there challenging amongst the leading pack.

“If we are to be successful, we know that we have to keep our core players here; they are good role-models to the youngsters and if we can add a few new faces into the mix to freshen things up as we go along, then we will be on the right lines.

“It’s been non-stop at times this summer; a lot has been going on behind-the-scenes as we look to get a team out there that is going to have a real go this season.”
