BEDFORD TOWN | HALL IS THE ANSWER

Summer signing ready to make his mark

It’s a great quiz question; who is the only player to appear in the FA Premier League, the Championship, League One and League Two all in the space of just 12 months?

The answer is Rob Hall and this summer the former England U19 international arrived in the Southern League having joined Premier Central new-boys, Bedford Town.

Before talking about his switch to the newly-promoted Eagles, where he will finally get the chance to play alongside his best mate, Ryan Blake, the 30 year-old explained how his unusual achievement came about.

“During the 2011/12 season, as I was coming through at West Ham United, I was sent out on loan to Oxford United, who were in League Two at the time, and then MK Dons of League One,” he recalled. “At the start of the following season, I made my Premier League debut for West Ham and then went on loan to Birmingham City in the Championship.

“I think that with this latest move I will have played in each of the top seven divisions of English football!

“This move really suits me as I am joining a club that is moving in the right direction and has plenty of ambition.

“It also means that I get the chance to play in the same team as my best mate, Ryan Blake, something that I am really looking forward to.

“I came to watch the last couple of games of last season as the club successfully made it through the play-offs. There was such a good atmosphere and a real family vibe around the whole place, which was another factor in helping me decide to come here.

“The plans that the club has are really exciting; I know what this level is all about and I will be trying to impose myself on every game and help the club establish itself in what will be a tough League.”

Skipper Blake was full of praise for the new recruit.

“His left foot is unreal,” he said. “I’ve watched him since he was a young kid and he’s such a sharp player with so much talent and ability.

“He will contribute with goals and assists and will be a big character in the changing room.

“I never thought that we’d get the chance to play in the same team together, so I am thrilled for him to be here. It’s a special moment for us and our family and friends.”
