There has been a change at the top of Pitching In Southern League Division One South outfit, Cribbs.
Long-serving Chairman, Dave Nelson, has decided to step down and has been replaced by long-serving club stalwart, Nick Veale.
Nelson has been Chairman for the past 35 years, overseeing the club’s rise from the Bristol Premier Combination to the Southern League. He will move to the role of Club President in recognition of his outstanding service.
The baton has been passed on to Nick Veale, who joined the club back n 1987 and made over 900 appearances across their various teams before hanging up his boots in 2014.
Since then, he has co-ordinated matchday and media operations amongst many other roles throughout the club’s ranks.
“Firstly, I would like to say thank you to Dave for his hard work and support during my time as a player, manager and representative of the club,” said Veale. “It has been a pleasure to play and work alongside Nels.
“I am honoured to take on the stewardship of a club that has made amazing progress from the local Bristol leagues to having two sides in the non-League pyramid.
“I look forward to providing help and support to all our managers, coaches, players, volunteers, club members and sponsors. Metaphorically my door is open to all, as we seek to continue our progress and increase our visibility in the community that is growing around the Causeway.
“There is a lot of work to be done, but I am really excited about the coming season and watching all our talented sides in action.”
Cribbs reached the Division One South play-offs last term having finished third in their first-ever season at Step 4 level, but it will be a much-changed team that will begin the campaign at Cinderford Town on Saturday, August 10th.
