Leiston will be seen in a new light when they take on Colchester United U21s on Tuesday evening.
The Pitching In Southern League Premier Central outfit have had new floodlights installed at their Watson & Hillhouse Stadium.
It’s the first time that they have been upgraded for just over four decades and the project has been possible with the help of funding from The Football Foundation.
“I know our fans are going to notice the difference,” said Chairman, Andy Crisp. “They are going to really enjoy them.
“I would like to thank The Football Foundation for their help. The higher standard you play, the more money is available, and we can dip into that.
“We had funding from Sizewell B with our original ones, but they have very much served their purpose.
“We needed an upgrade. Now we have done that and have got excellent lights for the new season. It brings us up to standard for the Southern League and above.
“We will also have new dug-outs and they are coming on well, with concrete set to go down later this week.”
The 2024/25 season gets underway with a trip to Stratford Town on Saturday, August 10th for the Blues.
