Geordies congratulate Love Island winner as new kit is launched

Hanwell Town are hoping to be able to include Love Island winner, Josh Oyinsan, in their plans for the 2024/25 season.

The 29 year-old striker, who joined the club towards the end of last season as they successfully battled to avoid relegation out of the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, was a late entrant into the popular ITV reality show and went on to claim his share of the £50,000 prize.

“We are all delighted for Josh; it has had the whole club gripped over the last few weeks,” admitted manager, Chris Moore. “I’ve spoken to Josh and sent him our congratulations and also told him that he’s missed by us all.

“It’s great for him and he’s keen to get back involved and see the boys again, but at the same time, he knows that it’s going to be a very busy time for him at the moment with so many commitments that he has to fulfil.

“I was really surprised when he called to ask what I thought about him going onto the show. You only get this kind of opportunity once, so I told him to go for it because he would regret it if he didn’t.

“He came in towards the end of last season and made a big impact for us. He scored a few important goals and became a hit with our supporters.
“Hopefully we will see him back here at some point and he can make his mark again for us.”

Meanwhile, the Geordies have launched their new playing kits for the campaign ahead. The famous black and white stripes and blue trim is homage to Newcastle United after a group of supporters from the north-east giants founded the club in 1920 whilst they were in the capital working on the railways.

The club is proud of its roots and has partnered up with the Newcastle United Supporters Club London, The London Mags, and each year supporters battle it out for the Geordie Cup. They also welcome Newcastle fans to games throughout the season and last term they had 100 turn up en route to a Saturday evening away Emirates FA Cup tie at Fulham.

An away trip to newly-promoted Wimborne Town is on the agenda for Hanwell Town on the opening day of the season on Saturday, August 10th.
