With competitive action getting underway at the weekend as some of our member clubs found themselves in Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round action, Saturday belonged to Oscar Massey of Falmouth Town who hit four goals in a 5-0 victory for the Pitching In Southern League Division One South new-boys over Torpoint Athletic.
“To get four goals in the FA Cup and in front of the home crowd was class,” he told us. “I was really pleased with my own performance, but as a team we did really well to chalk up a commanding and deserved win.
“I’m excited to take this into the League season now and Saturday can’t come around soon enough for me now!
“This is a new challenge for the club at Step 4, but it is one that we are definitely ready for.
“Pre-season has been good; it’s been nice to get plenty of minutes into the legs and get fit. We’ve had a busy schedule of games, so it’s good that the action is now getting underway for real.
“I’m expecting a step up in level and I’m looking forward to the test that it will bring for us all. We want to show that we are ready to make this step up.
“My targets are to have a consistent season and score some goals. I am ready to embrace this challenge and build on what I did at the weekend.”
A trip to Bashley awaits the Cornish outfit in Saturday’s opening League game.
