An impressive pre-season saw Jamie Meddows earn a contract for the campaign ahead at Bromsgrove Sporting and he made the best possible start to life in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central with a debut goal in a 3-1 win at Hitchin Town on the opening day of the season.
The 21 year-old has made a two-step jump having joined the Rouslers from Midland Football League Premier Division outfit, Stourport Swifts, where he was a key figure.
“It was nice to get on the scoresheet straight away and open my League account,” said Meddows. “Pre-season went well and I was pleased with my performances, so it was good to be able to take that into the start of the season.
“It was a difficult decision to leave Stourport because I enjoyed my time at the club, but this move offers me the chance to test myself at a higher level and it’s been a case of so far, so good.
“We put in a good performance at the weekend, with everyone making a contribution. It probably took us quarter-of-an-hour or so to get into our stride, but after that everyone was on it and we were able to bring home a deserved three points.
“To win away on the opening day is always a great result, but the important thing now is that we can build on this and add to our points tally on Tuesday in our first home League game of the season against Stratford Town.
“This will be a big challenge for us, but we’re looking forward to it. For me personally it’s a step up in standard and I know that there are some tough games ahead, but I’m looking forward to testing myself and I’m playing with plenty of confidence at the moment.
“Long may it continue.”
