There were a number of milestones reached in Mousehole’s Emirates FA Cup clash with Willand Rovers on Wednesday evening.
Both Hayden Turner and Tallan Mitchell reached 150 appearances, whilst Mark Goldsworthy hit 100 outings for the Pitching In Southern League Division One South outfit.
“I am very proud to have reached 150 appearances for Mousehole,” Tallan Mitchell told us. “It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m honoured to have had the opportunity to contribute to the team over the years.
“Playing for this club has been a privilege, and I'm grateful for the support from team-mates, coaches, and fans. I have made friends for life here, it’s such a special club.
“When I first arrived, we were playing Step 6 football, and we had a clear plan to move up the leagues - and that’s exactly what we’ve done.
“The squad hasn’t changed too much over the years, hence why a few of us are reaching milestones, so experiencing those promotions with such an incredible set of players and staff has been truly special.
“The decision to come here was the best I have ever made in football. To be part of this story and to see how much it means to people, it’s just fantastic.
“You only have to look around here to see the progress with the ground getting better and attendances increasing. To be part of it feels great.
“I’ve made so much progress as both a player and a person because of my time at Mousehole. The experience and knowledge I’ve gained through working with the Gaffer and all the staff have truly made me better.
“We’ve made a positive start to the season. It’s very early days, but we are aiming to tick each game off as it comes.
“Personally, it has been a good start too. We were unfortunate with injuries in pre-season, so for me I’ve just tried to drive the team on and bring a positivity to our play and basically carry on from last year.
“There are no easy games in this League, as we found out last year. Every team seems to make their home ground a tough place to go and we know to get through this league we need to find ways to win.
“We have the quality within our ranks but we also need to find the consistency.
“We want to progress from last year, making the play-offs was the target last time round and this year we want to go one step further.
“Hopefully I can play my part in that both in terms of goals and assists but also helping to bring energy and confidence to the dressing room when its needed.”
Mousehole host Malvern Town on Saturday before facing their first local derby of the season on Monday as they go to newly-promoted Helston Athletic.
