AFC SUDBURY | SIX APPEAL

Emphatic first win of the season for Premier Central outfit

AFC Sudbury secured their first victory of the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central season in emphatic fashion on Bank Holiday Monday thanks to a 6-1 success against Lowestoft Town.

Amongst the goals was Ollie Peters, who returned to the club where he came through the ranks at the start of his career during the summer, as he bagged a brace.

“It was a great team performance from the whole squad,” Peters told us. “There were lots of great individual performances. We controlled the game for a large period and created some great chances, which were executed well.

“I was really pleased that such a good team performance would bring our first three points of the season.

“It was nice to get on the scoresheet, but the most important thing here was getting off the mark with that first win.

“I’d say that it has been a reasonable start. We’re disappointed with one or two results where we should have got more reward, particularly given the positions that we have been in during those games.

“But this is a great group and we have high expectations of ourselves. This result shows what we are capable of and we need to be able to build upon it now.

“The standard of this League is very high. There are some big clubs in it but so far, it’s been very open and competitive.

“We have to continue applying ourselves correctly and doing the right things.”

Attention turns to the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday with a first round qualifying encounter at Division One Central outfit AFC Dunstable.
