Will Taylor has certainly made a big initial impression following his switch to Westbury United.
The technically-gifted midfielder found the net on his debut for the Pitching In Southern League Division One South club following his move from Frome Town and then made it two goals in two games as he helped the Wiltshire club cause an Emirates FA Cup upset against AFC Totton last weekend.
“From a personal point of view it’s been an amazing start,” he told us with a broad smile. “There’s a great group of lads here and everyone at the club has been so welcoming.
“I feel like I have settled in straight away and that has been reflected in my performances so far.
“The team put in fantastic performance to beat AFC Totton, who are a well-established side and predicted to do well at the higher level this season.
“We held our shape well and struck to the game plan, which didn’t give our opponents the chance to break us down. They have some big-name players in their team so it made what we did even more special.
“Everyone put in such a massive effort and our togetherness was there for all to see. The key thing now is to take this into our League campaign and start moving up the table.
“The performance against AFC Totton shows that we have the discipline and quality here, what we need to do now is make sure we can produce this on a consistent basis, week in, week out.
“It’s a competitive League; there has been a fair bit of movement within the clubs over the summer and a few clubs have started really well. It’s a long season, though, with plenty of twists and turns ahead.
“What we have to do is ensure that we can build on the momentum gained from our FA Cup win. I enjoyed a great season with Frome Town last season, so I know what is required to do well at this level. Hopefully I can bring that experience here and make an impact on and off the ball.
“I’ll certainly bring a positive attitude and a willingness to do whatever it takes for this team to be successful. It’s going to take a collective effort, working together for a common goal with everyone pushing in the same direction to get us to where we want to be.”
There is Isuzu FA Trophy action for Taylor and his team-mates on Saturday as they head to Bristol Manor Farm.
