Fresh from scoring the winning goal and putting in a Man of the Match display on Saturday, Bideford AFC’s Scott Robinson has admitted that he is pleased with the way in which he has transitioned into life in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South this season.
The front-man joined the club during the summer from Brixham AFC having been one of the most consistent performers at Western League level in recent seasons.
“I haven’t found the step up from Step 5 to Step 4 as big as I initially thought it would be,” he admitted to us. “I feel that I have made the transition quite smoothly. Of course, the standard across the teams and individual players is better than I have been previously used to, but I am pleased with how I have adapted and long may this continue!
“I was really pleased to get on the scoresheet at the weekend and help us get the win. To finally get my first League goal was a relief, especially as it came against strong opponents who were on a good run.
“We’re honest enough to admit that we haven’t had the best of starts to the season, but over the last few weeks our overall performances have started to improve and we’ve been able to get more points on the board as players return from injury.
“I’ve been playing number nine recently and with that comes the responsibility to score goals, so hopefully I can keep doing that. As a team our confidence is building all of the time and we do need to ensure that we have that element of aggression that you need in this League.
“There’s plenty for us to look forward to in the weeks and months ahead.”
Bideford AFC head down to Falmouth Town on Tuesday evening.
