Tuesday evening’s action saw just one game take place in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South as a Jack Mazzone give Chertsey Town a good 3-0 victory over Basingstoke Town.
There were three games in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, including a mouth-watering encounter at AFC Telford United where leaders, Kettering Town, secured a 3-1 triumph. Jonny Edwards and Tyree Wilson gave the Poppies a two-goal advantage at the break before Edwards extended the lead on the hour-mark. A late goal from Orrin Pendley proved to be mere consolation for the hosts.
Also winning away were Bishop’s Stortford as they claimed a 2-1 victory at Harborough Town. Jack Roberts put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half-time before Bradley Russell doubled their advantage with just under a quarter-of-an-hour to go. The home side grabbed a late goal from Alex Morris but it proved to be too little, too late.
The other game saw Leiston secure maximum points from a 2-1 win against Alvechurch. Fraser Alexander put the home side ahead early on and then Jamar Loza added a second goal with seven minutes left on the clock. The experienced Richard Batchelor pulled one back in stoppage time at the end.
The Pitching In Southern League Division One South also had three games. Leaders, Yate Town, were held to a 1-1 home draw by Mousehole, who took the lead on 26 minutes thanks to a Joe Guest own goal. Their lead lasted barely four minutes, though, as Marlon Jackson levelled matters and that was to be the end of the scoring.
A stoppage time winner from Jenson Wright gave Didcot Town a dramatic 3-2 success against Falmouth Town. It was the visitors who took the lead when Brad Leivers found the net on 17 minutes, but a couple of minutes later, Wright equalised with his first goal of the evening. Luke Carnell then turned the scoreline on its head just before the half-hour mark only for Oscar Massey to level things up with just seven minutes left on the clock. It looked as though a point would be accompanying the Cornish outfit on their long journey home until Wright popped up to break their hearts.
The evening’s other game saw Bristol Manor Farm held to a home goalless draw by a resilient Westbury United.
Over in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central, free-scoring leaders, Real Bedford, drew a rare blank as they were held to a goalless home draw by Leighton Town. Tom Hitchcock saw a penalty for the hosts well saved.
It was also honours even at Stotfold as they extended their unbeaten run with a 1-1 draw with Hadley. Aaron Diviney gave the home side the lead with around ten minutes of the opening period remaining before an own goal ten minutes from time by Tommy Reynolds restored parity.
There was a return to winning ways for Flackwell Heath as second half strikes from James Ayres and Wiktor Makowski saw them run out 2-0 victors at Welwyn Garden City.
