FOUR TO FOLLOW | WEEKEND ACTION

Some action to warm you up this weekend

The weather is cold but the action is sure to be hot at the weekend across all four of our divisions.

Here’s our pick of the games:

MERTHYR TOWN v AFC TOTTON | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH
A mouth-watering contest is in prospect here as the free-scoring leaders take on opponents who sit third with just one defeat from their opening 14 League games. The Welsh outfit saw their six-game winning League run brought to an end with a draw at Dorchester Town last weekend, whilst the visitors, who sit four points behind their hosts but with a game in hand, will be eager to get back into the battle for points as they face their first League game since the turn of the month after their game at Gosport Borough was abandoned with them two goals to the good a fortnight ago.

KETTERING TOWN v LEISTON | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER CENTRAL
This will be a real test for the League leaders as they face opponents who are in good form and have proved to be extremely difficult to beat so far as just three defeats from 16 League games suggests. The hosts were hit by a stoppage time leveller in their last game, which brought to an end a run of eight straight League wins. For the visitors, who now sit just a couple of points and a couple of places outside the top five, it’s seven League games unbeaten now and they will go into this one full of confidence and belief.

YATE TOWN v EVESHAM UNITED | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH
The leaders are sure to be tested by opponents who go into the game in fourth place in the table. For the home side, they have won 11 of their 15 League games so far and will be looking to bounce back from a home reverse in the Isuzu FA Trophy last weekend. Their last League outing saw them held at home by Mousehole as they take on opponents who battled out a good 3-2 victory over fellow high-flyers, Helston Athletic, last weekend to make it three League games unbeaten.

REAL BEDFORD v HADLEY | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL
It’s a particularly exciting weekend in this division as not only do the top two go head-to-head here but also fourth-placed Flackwell Heath play host to third-place Berkhamsted. This particular game will see two teams full of confidence battling it out. The hosts are unbeaten in the League since the middle of August and have scored a lot of goals along the way, although their last outing saw them held to a goalless home draw by Leighton Town. As for Hadley, they followed up their Isuzu FA Trophy victory over AFC Telford United last weekend by scoring two stoppage time goals to dramatically win 2-1 at Kidlington during the week to leave them just a point behind Saturday’s opponents.
