DIDCOT TOWN | A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS

Landmark for skipper, Adam Learoyd

Weather-permitting, Didcot Town, skipper, Adam Learoyd, will make his 400th appearance for the club on Saturday.

The Railwaymen, who sit just five points off the play-off places in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South, are due to play host to Bashley.

“I came up through the ranks here and made my debut back in 2006,” 34 year-old Learoyd told his club’s media. “The scary thing is that there are quite a few of my current team-mates who weren’t even born then!

“I’ve had a couple of short spells away, but I’ve had some great times here and played alongside a whole host of really talented players over the years.

“There are some special memories and I absolutely love being captain and trying to pass on some of what I have learned to those around me.

“At this level you’ve got to be ruthless; you have to head it and kick it, it’s not always going to be pretty football.

“We’ve put ourselves into a position to challenge for a place in the play-offs over the second half of the season. There have been ups and downs, which you will get with a young group of players, but I am enjoying my football and enjoying being part of it.

"Hopefully we can mark my 400th appearance with the right result!"
