We’re preparing for the action over the weekend ahead across our four divisions. Here is our pick of the fixtures:
MERTHYR TOWN v TAUNTON TOWN | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH
The League leaders will face a tough test from opponents who have their sights set on closing the gap on the top five. The home team have lost just two of their 26 League games so far, but have drawn four of their last five outings. Meanwhile, the visitors are seven games unbeaten having scored a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time to salvage a point from their last outing against Wimborne Town last weekend.
STRATFORD TOWN v HALESOWEN TOWN | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER CENTRAL
This encounter pits the hosts who are looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat at Spalding United in their last game and hold onto their place within the top five against opponents whose victory over Royston Town on Tuesday evening sent them to the top of the table. The reality is that only three points separate these two teams in what is developing into a fascinating battle for promotion and play-off places.
MOUSEHOLE v EXMOUTH TOWN | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH
These two teams go into the game in the top five as Cornwall meets Devon. For the home team, they are now on a four-game unbeaten League run, which has included three wins and a draw, secured with a stoppage time equaliser at Westbury United last weekend. They face opponents who have maintained their spot in second place with just one defeat from their last eight outings, including a 1-1 draw at Willand Rovers in their last game.
BERKHAMSTED v LEIGHTON TOWN | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL
The home side go into the game in second place in the table, just two points off the lead and they will be looking to add to their run of just one defeat from 12 League games against opponents who have started to find some recent form of their own, which has seen them lose just one of their last five outings, including a 2-0 victory over high-flying Barton Rovers last weekend. It promises to be a hard-fought and entertaining encounter.
