Loanee ready to spring into March

February has been a month on the road for Havant & Waterlooville with no fewer than five of their six fixtures taking place away from home.

They have yielded a couple of wins, with Saturday’s commanding 3-0 triumph at Basingstoke Town the latest and it was a result that took them onto the 50-point mark, just outside the play-off places.

Amongst the goals at the weekend was Keane Anderson and the Aldershot Town loanee knows that their away form has to pick up if they are to finish in the top five.

“We know that our away form hasn’t been good enough so far this season,” Anderson admitted to us. “Saturday was only our fifth win from 16 games on the road, but we’re still in and around the play-off places so that’s positive as we go into the month of March.

“It was a good win for us at the weekend. Basingstoke are a good side and they made it difficult for us during the first half.

“We came out after the break with a lot more energy and got our rewards. It was a tough game to make an impact from a personal point of view because they were quick to press and didn’t give you enough time, but I was happy to get my name on the scoresheet with our third goal to kill the game off.

“It was a much-needed win. February has been a busy month with the games coming thick and fast, but we’re positive about getting into a run of form to really push hard to make the top five. We’ve lost only one of our last four matches, so we’ll take it a game at a time and see where we end up.

“I’m enjoying the season; I feel that I have developed a lot as a player and I’m making an impact on the team, which is what it’s all about, especially being a loan player.

“We’ve had some memorable moments and as a group we are determined to create many more between now and the end of the season.

“This is a strong League, everyone can beat each other and there are a lot of quality players coming into this level and improving standards all of the time. I enjoy the challenge that it presents and my aim is to play my part in firstly getting Havant & Waterlooville into the play-offs and then finishing the job.”

The Hawks are back on home soil on Saturday for the visit of Winchester City.
