REVIEW | TUESDAY ACTION

A round-up of the evening's games

There was action across our four divisions on Tuesday evening.

In the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, the spoils were shared in the evening’s only game as a goal just before the hour from Ezio Touray earned Poole Town a point from their trip to Hungerford Town, for whom Louis McGrory opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark.

Three games took place in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central where Lewis Ludford-Ison hit a hat-trick for Stratford Town in their commanding 3-0 triumph over AFC Sudbury. It was a result that strengthens The Bards’ position within the top five and makes it four straight home wins.

Just outside the play-off places are Stamford AFC who chalked up a 2-0 triumph at Biggleswade Town thanks to a second half brace from James Blunden.

The evening’s other game saw a stalemate between Kettering Town and Halesowen Town as neither team was able to make the breakthrough.

In the Pitching In Southern League Division One South, two of the four scheduled games took place and Bishops Cleeve left it late to snatch a big three points at Didcot Town thanks to James Harding’s stoppage time winner.

There was away joy for Melksham Town as they won 3-1 at Helston Athletic. Elliot Haffenden gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time before Dawid Regula doubled the advantage ten minutes into the second period. Harry Baker then made the points safe with a third before Ryan Richards notched a late consolation on his debut for the hosts.

The top two were in action in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central.

Leaders, Real Bedford, fell behind twice at home to Aylesbury United but recovered to win 3-2. Maksymilian Jarzabek fired the away team into the lead on the quarter-hour mark but that was cancelled out five minutes later by Isaac Galliford. A second goal for the visitors midway through the opening period from Luqman Kassim saw them regain the lead, which they held on to until the 66th minute when Josh Setchell levelled. The winner came from Joey Evans with just under 15 minutes to go.

Second-place Berkhamsted had a more straightforward success against Hadley. Goals from Connor Tomlinson and Louie Collier saw them race into a two-goal lead within the opening 25 minutes. A Luke Alfano penalty just before the break gave the visitors some hope only for JJ Lacey to extend the hosts’ lead early in the second half. The scoring was rounded off by Bernard Christie with ten minutes remaining.

The other two scheduled games fell victim of the weather.
