As we spring into the month of March, the action just gets more and more mouth-watering!
Here’s our pick of the weekend action:
AFC TOTTON v MERTHYR TOWN | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH
There’s only one game that we could highlight in the Premier South as the top two go head-to-head. Both teams have lost only two games each so far this season; the away team go into the game six points clear of their hosts having played two games more, so it’s extremely close. AFC Totton were held to a 1-1 draw at Swindon Supermarine in their last outing, whilst the Welsh outfit were 5-1 victors over Bracknell Town to make it 85 goals from their 32 League games.
LEISTON v KETTERING TOWN | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER CENTRAL
The home side sit just one place outside the play-off zone and having seen their long unbeaten run come to an end last weekend at AFC Telford United, they will be eager to respond in the right way as they take on opponents who sit two places and three points above them. The visitors played out a goalless draw with Halesowen Town during the week, having previously lost at Bedford Town, so they too will be eager to return to winning ways. It makes for an intriguing clash.
MOUSEHOLE v BISHOPS CLEEVE | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH
These two teams both sit just inside the top five and they will be eager to strengthen their position within the play-off places amidst a number of chasing clubs who are all finding some good form. The hosts secured a good 2-0 away win at Bristol Manor Farm in their last outing to make it six League games undefeated. They face opponents who are fresh from a last-gasp midweek win at Didcot Town, a result which made it three League wins in a row as part of an eight-game unbeaten League run.
THAME UNITED v HADLEY | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL
The battle to finish inside the top five is an intense one. Currently the home team sit just one place outside, on goal difference, whilst their opponents are in fourth place, but only two points above them. The hosts have lost just one of their last six League games, beating Kings Langley 3-1 in their latest League clash. Meanwhile the visitors saw their seven-game unbeaten run ended with a 4-1 defeat at Berkhamsted during the week, so they will be keen to bounce back against opposition that they beat 3-0 towards the end of January.
