REAL BEDFORD | GOOD EVANS

Hot-shot on the season so far and another PST Sport Club of the Month award

There’s another PST Sport Club of the Month award heading the way of Real Bedford following their exploits throughout February.

It was a month that yielded four wins and a draw in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central to leave them sitting pretty at the top.

The month also saw Joey Evans weigh in with seven League goals, including a hat-trick in the epic 5-5 draw with Flackwell Heath.

“It’s nice to get more recognition for what we’re doing as a team with this latest award,” Evans told us. “We’re having a good season and that’s thanks to the Gaffer and his team; they give us every chance to succeed both on and off the pitch.

“We’re also lucky to have such great volunteers behind-the-scene and brilliant fans who give us the support which helps to drive us on.

“We went into this season hoping to challenge for promotion, so to be top of the table going into the month of March is great for us. We’ve given ourselves a good chance for promotion in what is a strong League, thanks be to God.

“You can see exactly how strong this League is by the fact that some of the younger lads in it have progressed into the professional game this season. It’s given them a platform to develop and push on their careers.

“As a group we can’t wait for the run-in to the end of the season. We’re a really close-knit group and enjoy working together. Hopefully we can use this to make some great memories as a group. These are the moments we all play football for, to compete and try to win silverware.

“This club has made a lot of progress in a short space of time and it’s great to be a part of it and share these moments with people you care about.

“I thank the Gaffer for selecting me as part of the team and for all of the detail he puts into our sessions and preparation. I try to repay the faith with goals and assists.

“Looking at our aims and targets between now and the end of the season, it’s simple; win, win, win and for me to score as many goals as possible to help us achieve this!”

Having been without a game last weekend, Evans and his team-mates head to Hadley on Saturday.
