REVIEW | TUESDAY ACTION

Drama across our four divisions

There was Tuesday evening action across our four divisions, with plenty of drama.

In the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, it was a good night for Walton & Hersham as they won 3-0 at Swindon Supermarine. Dawid Rogalski set them on their way just past the half-hour mark before an own goal by James Edge doubled their advantage in the opening exchanges of the second period. Mason Obeng rounded things off towards the end.

Their evening was made even better with the news that Dorchester Town had suffered a 3-0 defeat at an impressive Hanwell Town. Quickfire goals just before the break from Roberto Nditi and Ryan Cole put the home side in command before Joe Waight sealed the points.

Havant & Waterlooville had to settle for a point from their trip to Tiverton Town, who had Asa Hall in charge for the first time. The goalless draw means that the visitors remain just outside the play-off places and the hosts sit in the relegation zone.

There was a good away win for Wimborne Town who continue to climb up the table. They secured a 2-1 triumph at Chertsey Town, who took the lead just past the half-hour through Toby Little. Second half goals from Will Fletcher and Matt Burrows turned the scoreline on its head. The home team remain just above the drop zone.

Over in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, Kettering Town had to come from behind to beat Alvechurch 2-1. Archie Crowther gave the away team an early lead, which was cancelled out in the opening exchanges of the second period by Wes York. The winner was scored by Isiah Noel-Williams, fresh from his double at the weekend.

Goals either side of half-time from Tobias Liversidge and James Blunden gave Stamford AFC victory over Redditch United. The result means that the hosts are now just three points off a place in the top five as the away team drop into the lower reaches of the table.

There was drama in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South where leaders, Yate Town, were held to a 3-3 home draw by Willand Rovers. Lucas Tomlinson fired the home side ahead but ten minutes later, James Watts-Barciela restored parity for the Devon outfit. Jamie Richards then put the away team ahead within four minutes of the start of the second half but that was cancelled out by Jamie Adams with 12 minutes to go. It looked like King Baidoo had won it for Yate when he found the net in stoppage time. However, with 103 minutes on the clock, Harvey Dorothy snatched a last-gasp leveller.

The other game also had late drama as Westbury United won at Cinderford Town. Stephen Hulbert gave the visitors a 33rd minute lead only for Ismail Yakubu to equalise in first half stoppage time. With the game in the balance, Dan Restorick popped up to win it with a couple of minutes to go and move his side into the top ten.

In the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central, Barton Rovers strengthened their position in third place with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Hertford Town. A goal in the 13th minute from Thomas Baggaley proved to be lucky.

Not so lucky for North Leigh who lost for the 24th time this season with a 2-0 home reverse at the hands of AFC Dunstable who had two goals in quick succession on the stroke of half-time by Abel Damoah Kyeremeh and Enrico Greco to thank for the win.

Also winning away were Welwyn Garden City as they ran out 2-1 winners at Northwood. Carlos Garcia Velasco gave them an early lead only for Jos Williams to level matters. What proved to be the winning goal came from Lewis Jones as the interval approached. The win leaves Welwyn Garden City still in touch with the play-off zone.
