There was action across our four divisions on Tuesday evening, providing plenty of drama.
In the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, Wimborne Town continued their impressive run of form with a 1-0 away win at Frome Town as Matt Burrows got the all-important goal midway through the opening period.
There was plenty of entertainment at Chertsey Town where the home side found themselves two goals to the good within the opening three minutes against Taunton Town as Jack Mazzone and Luke Robertson found the net. The visitors’ response was swift as Bailey Croome pulled one back before ten minutes had been played and then Jayden Nielsen levelled on the half-hour. A goal from Alfie Moulden put the visitors ahead from distance after the break and it was a lead they held until the seventh minute of stoppage time when Toby Little equalised from the penalty spot.
Over in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, bottom club, Biggleswade Town, secured a rare win as a Michael Adu goal on 65 minutes was enough to give them victory over Lowestoft Town.
There there were two other games and they both ended in 1-1 draw.
In-form Harborough Town travelled to Bromsgrove Sporting and took the lead early on from the penalty spot as Ben Stephens stayed cool to convert. The hosts hit back in stoppage time at the end as Jack Newell’s goal snatched a point.
At nearby Alvechurch, the home side fell behind just before the hour-mark as Joe Neal returned to the scoresheet to put AFC Sudbury ahead. Parity was restored when Jon Ngandu volleyed home an equaliser with 77 minutes on the clock as the spoils were shared.
In the Pitching In Southern League Division One South there were some important matches for teams battling it out in the lower reaches of the table.
Bideford secured a much-needed 3-0 away win at Cribbs to put a bit more daylight between themselves and the bottom four. Finn Roberts set them on their way as the interval approached and then bagged a second goal early in the second period. A third goal wasn’t far behind, this time from Alex Moyse, to secure the points as they ended the game with ten men following Javan Wright's dismissal.
A goal from Charlie Johnson just before the half-hour was enough to give Thatcham Town victory over Cinderford Town in the battle of the bottom two.
Meanwhile play-off chasing Malvern Town made the long trip down to Falmouth Town and it was looking good for them when Sam Clark put them ahead ten minutes into the second half and then an own goal doubled their advantage with just under ten minutes left on the clock. The hosts were able to pull a goal back in the final minute from Luke Barner before nicking a point in stoppage time courtesy of Andreas Calleja-Stayne.
In the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central there were two 6-0 victories.
Leaders, Real Bedford, marched on as they disposed of Stotfold. Lee Watkins and Archie Jones hit first half goals before Joey Evans extended the lead early in the second half. Ben Stevens then made it 4-0 before Evans weighed in with another and Tom Hitchcock completed the scoring late on.
Also hitting six without reply were Hadley who comfortably overcome the challenge of bottom club, North Leigh. Caoilan Mcgettigan, Fin Aldridge and Jordan Edwards all found the net inside the opening 20 minutes to put the hosts firmly in command. Eric Tweneboah Koduah hit another early in the second period before George Alfieri and Cheik Zidouemba added their names to the scotresheet.
The other two games ended all square. Barton Rovers had a last-gasp leveller from Taylor Rhiney to thank for a point at Northwood, who went ahead through Troy Perez-Duah in the opening exchanges, whilst AFC Dunstable’s home encounter with Thame United was a game that had everything, apart from a goal.
