It’s been another season of progression for Henry Sady at Melksham Town.
Regarded as one of the shining lights in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South, the 21 year-old followed up his Young Player of the Season crown in 2023/24 with the Supporters Player of the Season accolade this term.
His 16 League goals helped the Wiltshire outfit to an eighth place finish, with 63 points to their name.
“I was pleased with how the season went for me in terms of goals and assists,” he told us. “I’ve enjoyed my football and it’s always nice to get recognition, so the Player of the Season award from the fans means a lot to me.
“As for the team, we started the season strongly and were in amongst the leading pack for a time before dropping off a bit in the middle.
“We were able to finish strongly and when you look at things overall and the bigger picture, both myself and the team made definite progress from the previous campaign.
“To finish eighth in what was a strong and challenging League was good, particularly as I felt that the standard improved this season across the board and having found ourselves at the lower end of the table previously, it was nice to be up there in amongst the leading pack.
“The aim now is to build on this and make a challenge to get into the play-offs in 2025/26. There’s no reason why we can’t do that; I’ll be looking to beat my goals tally and if we add a bit more consistency as a group then there’s no reason why we can’t be right up there.”
Sady will have a new playing surface on which to show off his skills as the next phase of a major programme of renovation work is getting underway at the impressive Oakfield Stadium, under the watchful eye of Head Groundsman, Paul Brickley.
The club has made a big investment in the works, which began earlier this year and include improvements to the playing surface and drainage system.
Meanwhile the club is holding a Fans Forum on Wednesday evening as they search for the latest crop of volunteers to join them on their exciting journey. The aim is to form a Matchday Committee to play its part in taking things forward off-the-pitch.
There are certainly plenty of reasons to be cheerful in this particular part of Wiltshire.
