Exmouth Town fan, Colin Cuppleditch, has decided to spend a penny or two on a different kind of sponsorship for the Pitching In Southern League Division One South club.
The Supporters Club committee member is a regular face on the terraces at both home and away games for the Devon outfit and now he is also going to have an official presence in the toilets at the club’s Complete Infrastructure Stadium base having taken out sponsorship of the outside toilet block.
We let Colin explain.
“I sponsored the match ball for the opening game of last season,” he began. “As part of that I had a few posters put up around the ground, but one of them, in the gents outside toilet, wasn’t taken down after the game like the rest of them and remained there for the whole season.
“It became something of a talking point amongst my fellow Mufftown Casuals who came face-to-face with the poster each time they used the urinals and would often comment on it.
“I felt guilty having that kind of free exposure all season; I didn’t want to take the pee out of the club, so feeling a little flush this summer, I approached the Commercial Manager and asked if I could make it official and become the Outside Toilet Sponsor.
“The club have taken it in good humour and agreed to my sponsorship request, so here I am!”
Pictured we see Exmouth Town Commercial Manager, and former goalscoring legend, Lenny Jones, toasting the sponsorship deal alongside Colin, who is looking forward to what the 2025/26 campaign holds in store, both on the pitch and in the rest room.
“It’s always a roller-coaster following Exmouth Town,” he added. “The season before last we were battling relegation and then last term we were up there pushing for promotion, eventually making it into the play-offs.
“There is something really special about following the club; you feel truly connected to the players, staff and fans around you. I’ve been attending games for a few years now having been introduced to the club by a friend.
“I’m now on the committee of the Supporters Club [also known as the Mufftown Casuals], and I can be found volunteering in the Club Shop on matchdays, which is great fun!
“I’m really looking forward to the new season getting underway. There are some tough opponents and some challenging away days – particularly Bashley as there aren’t many pit stops on the way home for those calls of nature!
“We’ve managed to add some quality players to what we already have here, so we’re confident that we can build on the positivity of last season.”
