FARNHAM TOWN | BROTHERLY LOVE

Jack Dean is looking to help his team cement their place in the Premier South

It’s a case of brotherly love at Farnham Town where Jack and Owen Dean will be part of the playing staff that makes history for the club in what will be their first taste of life at Step 3 having achieved back-to-back promotions.

Right-back, Jack Dean, has appeared at this level before having given good service to Bracknell Town, and he is looking forward to returning to the Pitching In Southern League Premier South.

“We’re excited for the season to start now,” he told us. “We’ve been counting down the days since we were promoted, to be honest.

“The morale around the group is good; we’ve been able to add six new signings and they have all fitted in well.

“It gives us a strong squad to be able to tackle the club’s first-ever season at this level following successive promotions.

“We’re going to give it a real go. There’s a winning mentality around the place, we recently beat Eastbourne Borough, who are a Step 2 outfit, so it shows where we’re at.

“I have to say that this has been one of the tough pre-seasons that I have ever taken part in. We’ve worked our socks off in the hot conditions, but we’re in a good place and ready to face the challenges that come our way.

“It’s a strong League that we’re going into and I know that we’re going to find it very different to the previous two campaigns, but as I say, this is a club on an upward trajectory that is used to winning football matches.

“There are some mouth-watering games to come, including against my former club, Bracknell Town, and it will be nice to see some old faces then.

“I’ll be looking to have an injury-free season and hopefully I can get my best-ever goals/assists stats. I am told that I have an 82% win-rate when I’ve played for the club over the past two seasons, with 33 clean sheets from my 67 games, so it would be nice to build on that too.

“We haven’t really spoken much about our goals as a club yet, but being our first season at this level, we need to be able to cement our place here. I have unfinished business in the play-offs having lost in the final in 2022/23, but for now we want to establish ourselves amongst some strong opposition.”
