Portishead Town arrive in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South on the back of successive title triumphs.
In 2023/24 they romped home in the Western League Division One with 99 points to their name and they followed it up last term by claiming the Premier Division title.
During this time, they scored no fewer than 236 goals, with 86 of them coming from one man – Ethan Feltham.
The hot-shot burst onto the scene in his first season, bagging 55 goals in just 37 games, a ratio that put even Lionel Messi and Ronaldo in the shade, before hitting another 31 last season and whilst he is expecting it to be much tougher at Step 4, he can’t wait to get started.
“I’m buzzing for the season to get underway,” he told us. “It’s going to be a good test for us, but we’ve all been working hard to make sure that we are ready for the challenge and that we can give the best possible account of ourselves.
“We’ve got some good minutes into the legs and introduced the new lads into the group; they’ve been top-class to be fair.
“Personally, I’m feeling fit but, of course, I’ll be looking to regain my sharpness in readiness for the first game, at home to Didcot Town on August 9th.
“We know only too well that life is going to be much tougher this season. There are a lot of good teams at this level and players who have played higher, which means the quality will be high.
“That said, this team is more than good enough to live in this company. We’ve developed a winning mentality over the past couple of seasons and built some good momentum. Now we want to show everyone that we can compete at this level.
“We know what is required; our aim is to be amongst the leading pack and I want to contribute as much as possible with goals and assists. There’s no better feeling than seeing the ball hit the back of the net and that’s what I will be looking to do as often as I can over the course of the season ahead.”
