HARBOROUGH TOWN | SPANISH ADVENTURE

Skipper on a memorable pre-season tour

It’s been a pre-season to remember for Harborough Town as they were able to take advantage of their Spanish links by embarking upon a foreign tour.

During their stay in Madrid they faced two games – a 3-0 victory over a La Media Inglesa Trialist XI and hard-earned 1-0 triumph over third-tier outfit, AD Alcorcon, at the impressive Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo.

The stay also included a little bit of warm weather training and plenty of bonding ahead of the new season.

“This trip was one of the best experiences that I have ever had in my football career,” skipper, Connor Kennedy, told us without hesitation. “We were looked after superbly from the moment we set foot off the plane until the moment it was time to go home.

“The Spanish media team from La Media Inglesa were brilliant; from transport, to food and excursions, it was all there for us.

“As well as working hard on the pitch with a couple of tough games, we also had some downtime, which was a good opportunity for the new lads to bond and settle into the group.

“When you have new faces join the group, it’s important to get everyone on the same page as quickly as possible so that you have the best chance of hitting the ground running when the season starts and we’ve certainly made the most of pre-season this year.

“I want to play my part in helping the team to really push on this season. We want promotion and as a club we’re more than ready to challenge for the next level.

“It’s going to be a highly competitive Pitching In Southern League Premier Central this season, but we are going to be giving it absolutely everything we’ve got.”
