Stourbridge have made an exciting addition to their squad for the season ahead with the signing of Jez Abbey.
The attacking midfielder is fresh from helping Brackley Town secure The National League North title and he is hoping to bring that winning mentality to the Glassboys for their Pitching In Southern League Premier Central campaign.
“I’m really excited by the challenge that stands before me at Stourbridge,” he told us. “I thrive off challenges like this and I’m determined to get this club moving in the right direction.
“I had good early interactions with the Gaffer [Darryl Knights] and it soon became apparent that this was a project that I wanted to be part of.
“The Gaffer’s philosophies and ideologies of football align with mine perfectly and I know that he can improve me as a player, which in turn will help the team.
“I want to be able to showcase what I can do on a consistent basis. I’ll bring a winning mentality, higher level experience and good leadership. Hopefully I can contribute with goals, creativity and physicality to help the team win football matches.
“This is a strong League to come in to. There are a lot of big teams involved and plenty of local derbies to add to the excitement for all involved. It’s going to be great for the fans and we’ll need them behind us every step of the way, particularly with the problems that the club has had with the ground.
“I want to be able to establish myself in the team and play as many games as I can. At this stage of my career I need to be playing regularly and if I can do that, my full capability will be able to come to the fore.
“As a group we want to be up there challenging and there’s no reason why we can’t do that with the quality and leadership that we have here.”
