DIDCOT TOWN | THE SKY'S THE LIMIT

Turnaround in fortunes for Division One South club

Three wins from the last four games have taken Didcot Town out of the bottom four in the Pitching Southern League Division One South for the first time this season.

Saturday’s long trip down to Falmouth Town yielded a solid 2-0 away success with the all-important goals arriving in the final 20 minutes.

“All of the travelling was worth it in the end,” said Owen James, who made it five goals in his last five games. “It was a big three points for us from what is a tough place to go. The lads were incredible all over the pitch and from a personal point of view, it was nice to keep up my own scoring run.

“There is no escaping the fact that we started the season badly, but we’ve turned a massive corner since then, getting three League wins over the past month and for me I’ve been able to cement a starting place, which is great.

“Having played in both Division One South and Central, both are extremely competitive and hard-fought. I’d say that the amount of travelling involved in Division One South makes it tougher as it is something you have to get used to mentally as well as physically.

“But I’m enjoying it and give it 100% every time I step onto the pitch. The sky’s the limit for us as a team now.

“We’ve turned our fortunes around and are showing what we are capable of. We don’t fear anyone at this level; if we reach the standards that we know we are capable of and play with confidence and belief then there is no reason why we can’t start pushing up into the top half of the table and then take things from there.

“Personally I want to keep enjoying my football and putting the ball into the back of the net!”

A home game against another side who have pulled themselves off the foot of the table recently, Bideford AFC, awaits on Saturday.
