The resilience that has been the hallmark of Quorn’s season so far came to the fore again on Tuesday evening when they grabbed an equaliser with the last kick of the game to draw 2-2 with Halesowen Town.
It was a result that moved them back up to third in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central and made it four points from their last two outings having previously beaten Bury Town 2-0 at the weekend.
“We kept going until the bitter end to get something out of the game and extend our unbeaten run,” Cain Noble told us. “This team doesn’t know when it’s beaten; it’s testament to the character that we have in the dressing room amongst both the players and staff.
“On the back of a very professional performance at the weekend, which resulted in a deserved three points and a clean sheet – which are hard to come by in this League – we had to get back out there and work our socks off once more against a strong Halesowen Town team.
“There really is no let-up at this level, it’s intense, but we are giving a good account of ourselves and to be third with seven wins from 12 games, just shows the togetherness that exists here. There are a few occasions this season where we could have easily crumbled, including on Tuesday night, but we didn’t and came back fighting.
“We will work our socks off for each other and it’s showing through in the start that we have made. Being new to this level, our target has always been to avoid relegation, so to sit here towards the end of October just three points off the top shows exactly what an exceptional start it has been.
“But, it’s just that, a start, and we need to stick together and maintain the high standards that we have set.
“I have played in this league before and understand what it takes to do well. When we are at our best, there is no-one for us to fear at this level, but it’s important for us to be able to be at our best week in, week out.
“There is a lot of work for us to do, but we have made a solid start and long may it continue. As I say, the main objective securing our Step 3 status and then anything above that is a bonus."
