His club say that he is a man in ‘serious’ form. Rafael Ramos has five goals to his name from his last five games for Gosport Borough after bagging a brace in Wednesday evening’s 6-1 demolition of Bracknell Town.
In what was a commanding display, Gosport now move to fifth in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South table, leapfrogging this Saturday’s opponents, Sholing, on goal difference.
“It was a solid win on Wednesday and I was happy to add a couple more goals to my name,” Ramos told us. “From the very first whistle we controlled the game and we got just what we deserved with such a big win.
“I was able to get a lot of mileage into the legs up and down the pitch and, of course, getting a couple of goals always makes it extra sweet.
“The result pushes us into the top five now. We didn’t start the season as we planned due to some early injuries, but things are coming together now with players returned and right now we’re as strong as we have been.
“We recruited well over the summer and now it is finally starting to show; we’re in amongst the leading pack and that’s where we fully deserve to be.
“This is an amazingly strong League, so to be fifth in such a hard competition is credit to what we are doing and the work that we are putting in.
“We know that we have to turn up week in, week out because everyone really can beat each other on their day.
“Our eyes are on the play-offs and with the squad we have this is the least we should be aiming for. I want to be able to keep getting the goals and playing my part. Everyone knows my aim is to push higher up the Leagues, so I know that as long as I keep on scoring, my time will come.
“We’re looking forward to Saturday’s game now in what is sure to be quite a battle. Bring it on!”
