Weymouth skipper, Tom Bearwish, is hoping that last weekend’s victory through adversity at Farnham Town can be a catalyst for the Dorset club.
It’s been a tough season so far both on and off the pitch, but the 3-2 victory at high-flying Farnham Town has given them a big boost.
“It was a great team effort from start to finish,” Bearwish told us. “Everyone put in a shift; we stuck to the game plan and it was nice to see the hard work pay off.
“I mean, we had a striker playing centre back and only two subs, so you could say the odds were against us!
“Personally, I felt good out there and was happy to contribute to the win. The hope now is that we can kick-on from here.
“We know the start we’ve made hasn’t been ideal with the results and some of the off-the-pitch stuff, which is out of our control, but results like last weekend show what we’re capable of.
“It’s about keeping that momentum now, staying consistent and turning performances like that into a regular thing.
“We’re part of a really competitive League where every game is tough and you can’t take any team lightly. The standard is high, but that’s what makes it enjoyable and pushes us to improve each week.
“For me, it’s about staying consistent, improving every game and helping the team as much as possible.
“As a group, we want to keep climbing the table and stay competitive in every match. We’ll go to Hungerford Town on Saturday, give it everything we’ve got and see where it takes us.”
Going into the weekend, Steve Claridge’s side have 12 points from their opening 12 League games.
