Having recently taken charge of his 250th game, Mousehole AFC manager, Jake Ash, can reflect upon plenty of progress since he first arrived at the Cornish club during the summer of 2019 having previously skippered Truro City during their rise to prominence.
Ash has achieved promotions, record-breaking seasons and a place at the highest level the club has ever competed at, but just as significant has been the culture he has built at Interiora Trungle Parc
“Reaching 250 games is a real honour,” he said. “It’s been a brilliant journey with great people, and I’m incredibly proud of the progress this club has made over a long period of time.
“From staff and players who’ve been there from the start to those who’ve come in and added something along the way, everyone has bought into what we’ve tried to build.
“Mousehole AFC is a huge part of my life and my family’s life, and to have been given the opportunity to lead the club for this long is something I’m extremely proud of.
“We know that we haven’t been consistently good enough this season, especially at home, but Saturday’s victory at Portishead Town shows what we are capable of and gives us a boost to take into the festive period.
“For me this is the best time of year, and, of course, a big part of that is the football. We’re looking forward to a home local derby against Falmouth Town on the 27th and then a trip to Bideford AFC to start the New Year.
“I know that when we have everyone available, which hasn’t been the case enough so far, we will put a run together and move up the table. But it needs to start soon, and it would be nice to be able to build upon our last result and get the local bragging rights!”
