Pitching In Southern League Premier Central leaders, Needham Market, were held to a goalless draw at Long Eaton United who, despite their lowly position, made it four games unbeaten.
With both Mickleover and Redditch United not in action, it gave AFC Telford United an opportunity to make up ground but they were unable to take advantage as a Thomas Dickens goal midway through the second half was enough to give AFC Sudbury a precious three points.
Stratford Town also lost as Dan Jarvis’ goal on the half-hour mark gave Kettering Town a hard-earned 1-0 triumph.
It was a good away day for St. Ives Town as they came from a goal behind to beat Alvechurch 4-1. Nick Clayton-Phillips gave the hosts the lead but Michael Richens was able to level before the break. The second period saw the visitors take control as Jonny Edwards put them ahead just past the hour-mark before Richens added his second and then Jordan Williams completed the scoring.
Also winning away were Stourbridge, who overcame the obstacles to beat Leiston 1-0 thanks to Ethan Freemantle’s goal on the stroke of half-time, and Halesowen Town who had a late Jak Hickman effort to thank for their triumph at Royston Town.
The day’s other game saw Bromsgrove Sporting take the lead against struggling Berkhamsted through Luke Rowe with 15 minutes to go only for Raul Fernandes Da Silva to level in stoppage time.
In the Isuzu FA Trophy quarter-final, Premier Central outfit, Coalville Town, bowed out of the competition with a 3-0 reverse at Macclesfield, thus ending Southern League participation for another season.
